About EUROGATE

EUROGATE is Europe’s leading container terminal and logistics group.  Jointly with Contship Italia, we operate sea terminals on the North Sea, in the Mediterranean region and on the Atlantic, with excellent connections to the hinterland of Europe.  Along with container handling, we offer a full range of “box”-related operations, from cargo-modal services, to container-depot services, container servicing and container repair.  Our range of services is rounded off by intermodal transport and logistics management, solutions for IT logistics, and specialised engineering services.

EUROGATE’s success story began in September 1999.  It was then that EUROKAI, a traditional Hamburg firm, joined with BLG Logistics Group of Bremerhaven to form EUROGATE, a joint company, which merged the container business of the two firms.  The company’s head office was established in Bremen.  Since then EUROGATE, with nine terminal locations and handling figures of 12.6 million TEUs a year in 2010, has developed into Europe’s largest terminal operator.

Each of the companies in EUROGATE Group is committed to a Group-wide standard of quality.  High productivity levels and optimum coordination of working processes are the characteristics of our container handling.  Processes are supported by modern terminal technology, kept state-of-the-art by continuous capital investment.  But we don’t just rely on technology to gain high productivity rates.  Our staff play a decisive role.  Many of our 4,500 employees  in Germany are the second generation to work for us.

A further factor in our success is our readiness to make strategic alliances and to maintain long-standing partnerships.  In Bremerhaven we are involved in two joint ventures.  NTB North Sea Terminal is a venture owned jointly with Maersk Line, the biggest shipping line in the world.  MSC GATE, on the other hand, is a joint venture with the world’s second-biggest shipping line, MSC-Mediterranean Shipping Company.  We are also involved in projects, for example in Wilhelmshaven and in Ust Luga, near St. Petersburg.
